Just prior to the chartered flight’s arrival at Piarco International Airport a massive crowd waited for some time before they got to greet at least seven members of the team.

As Prime Minister Patrick Manning had warned the Warriors, after the lengthy welcome ceremony at Piarco, they had to travel "an obstacle course" before getting home.

While Manning jocularly made the remark, the Warriors eventually learnt that it was truly an obstacle course that took the form of a parade from the airport, down the Eastern Main Road and on to the Brian Lara Parade in Port-of- Spain, where the music hit a crescendo to thousands more of dancing patrons.

The team must have found it very tiring, considering just coming off an airplane in which they flew for 13 hours, then to face a drive to Port-of Spain that took more than five hours.

However, the feteing patrons last night seemed little concerned about the long wait which lasted more than five hours.

For the thousands in Port-of-Spain, they will remember it as "the long wait" to greet their Warriors.

At 9.30 last night the parade was located in San Juan — still some distance from the city.
