THE TT Council of Evangelical Churches Inc (TTCEC) has categorically expressed support for the Benny Hinn Miracle Crusade scheduled for the Queen’s Park Savannah between May 19-21.

The council has described Hinn as a “distinguished evangelist of international repute” and is of the view that the crusade will be a catalyst for positive change in the lives of many.

Additionally the council has called for “religious tolerance in our plural society” and strongly objects to any move to block Hinn’s entry into the country or attempts to “smear” his name.

The organising committee of the Benny Hinn Event in TT has stated that Hinn was returning to the country at the invitation of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the West Indies (PAWI) and would be representing over 400 churches locally.

The committee stated that it will not be receiving any funding from the Government. Rev Carlyle Thorne, TTCEC president told Newsday the allegations made about Hinn has not dampened the efforts made by the committee.

He said committee members have in fact been “fuelled” by the support given following the publicity generated on the upcoming crusade. He added that Hinn himself was very excited to be returning to Trinidad.
