THE Queen’s Park Oval will tomorrow be transformed into a sea of white and the Red Carpet will be rolled out for five-time Grammy Award Winner and Gospel Superstar, the legendary Yolanda Adams.
Adams will perform alongside a cast of popular local Gospel entertainers, steelpan drummers and Gospel folk dancers, who will all come together to create “The Awakening” experience,
The five-hour non-stop uplifting concert will commence from 5 pm, and Caribbean Gospel Awards new female artiste of the year Winsie-Ann Cuffie will open the show accompanied by special sound and visual effects. Cuffie, who is no stranger to the international stage, will then be followed by Louis Jarrett (Las Vegas), Barbara Flemming, Michelle Modeste, Sean Daniel, Christopher ‘Tambu’ Herbert, Angostura Woodbrook Playboyz Pan Orchestra, The Illumination Dance Group, Eastlyn Orr (Tobago), Ayana George, Krystle Aboud (Los Angeles), Jadee and Larry Pierre.
In the run up to the concert, members of the public called in to radio stations to nominate less fortunate families to attend the concert and ten families won ten VIP tickets to the concert and $1,000 vouchers, to be given out by Adams, for school supplies.
Promoted by Konspets International and Associates, the concert is touted to guarantee to touch each soul that is expected to attend, and there will be a VIP area where patrons will be welcomed on an actual Red Carpet from Tragarete Road to the Oval.
The VIPs will be greeted by service personal and treated too non-alcohol champagne, wines, cocktails and a variety of premium drinks.
Executive producer for the event, Opheliah Burgher, said the vent is dedicated to broken homes, single mothers and children.
“This is an inspirational concert and Yolanda Adams was chosen especially for this as she is an inspiration to women all over the world, especially being a single mother,” Burgher said.
“We want this event to inject some sort of spiritual awareness and some sort of stability within the homes — among families, which is our main focus because there is too much crime and negative things going on in the country,” she added.
Burgher challenged the Ministry of Social Development to implement systems and programmes which will effectively and efficiently assist single families, broken families and abused children.
Shuttles will be provided from Port-of-Spain, Arima and San Fernando to the venue.
