THOUSANDS of youths turned out at Friday’s mega concert ‘The Power of Love’ which featured Jamaican Dancehall Legend Papa San.

Jean Pierre Complex was transformed from a sporting venue to a large “open air” hall of praise and worship. Hands were seen raised towards the heavens praising God from when the concert commenced at about 8 pm and when it ended at about 1.30 am.

The concert kicked off with touching renditions from the choir of the Operation Smile Home for Children, for which the concert was held in aid of. Following which, Broadway Boys International took to the stage, bringing much delight to the spectators with their two selections.

Other artistes that followed included: the Valencia Pentecostal Church, under Rev Peter Regis, Nicole Ballosingh who brought “the house down” belting out a powerful worship session of traditional gospel songs.

Teenaged spectacle Winsie Ann Cuffie and live band wooed the crowd as she rendered ‘Most High’ and up tempo soca ‘Say Yea’. Her highly energetic performance which was accompanied by pyrotechnics left the crowd hyper in build up to the featured performance. Following Cuffie was Mension who rendered reggae gospel hits and Jadee who delivered heavy Gospel Soca.

By the time all locals were done performing, the moment came which everyone had been waiting for — Papa San, real name Tyrone Thompson of Spanish Town, Jamaica.

He gave a tremendous high-energy two-hour performance leaving the crowd screaming for more. He sang some of his popular hits from his new album and previous albums songs: ‘God and I’ and ‘Real and Personal’. Other songs included most popular hits: ‘Fly Away’, ‘Hail Him Up’, ‘Good to Me’, ‘Smile Again’, ‘Breathe Again’ and ‘I will Step on the Enemy’.
