POLICE officers lost four bullet-proof vests among other items, according to the 2007 Public Accounts of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago laid in the House of Representatives.

The report said one vest was stolen from an identified car belonging to a named police constable at McInroy Sreet in Curepe on January 1, 2007. Two bullet-proof vests were stolen from the Guard Unit, Police Administrative Building on July 15, 2007 belonging to two named Special Reserve Police (SRP) officers. Another bullet-proof vest was stolen from an identified car belonging to a named police constable.

The report said one vest cost as much as $3,000. Further two pairs of hand cuffs were stolen from the residence of a named police constable on December 3, 2006. The same theft also involved the taking of two police shirts and six police identification badges bearing the numerals “4770”. A law volume went missing from the Central Division on October 27, 2006.

Other losses listed included a $900 television maliciously destroyed by a named person at Siparia Police Station, a walkie-talkie maliciously damaged during an arrest, and one laptop computer.

Likewise the Immigration Division lost a fan, while the Fire Service lost $100 in cash, under the head of the Ministry of National Security.
