FLOODING in the nation’s capital has been a common occurrence for many years, so much so, there is a saying that once rain clouds gather it’s a safe bet that Port-of-Spain will be under flood waters. However, many persons — young and old — said yesterday’s flooding which virtually covered the capital was the worst in recent memory. The Eastern Main Road and Priority Bus Route near the PoS Abattoir were under as much as four feet of swirling water while the nearby East Dry River was a raging, swirling, violent mass of water and debris. Yesterday’s flooding came following five days of incessant rainfall.
