Yanick Holdip 'Egyptian Sun God'....

YANICK Holdip is the new Junior King of Carnival after narrowly beating out stiff competition on Friday night at the Northern Green’s Queen’s Park Savannah.

Holdip, who placed third in the Junior Carnival individuals last year, narrowly beat out his nearest competitor by one point with a costume entitled, “Egyptian Sun God”, a Stephen Dereck design. The 15ft high, 14ft wide costume made of aluminium, cane and fibre glass, was a hit with the audience gathered at the Northern Greens on Friday night. Holdip placed first with 423 points.

Narrowly missing out on the title was Wazim Daniel with “Thunder Bow Sima” who placed second with 422 points. Third was Denzil Superville with “Yellow Head”, a traditional Indian mas, which scored 417 points.
