PRIME MINISTER Kamla Persad-Bissessar yesterday broke her silence over the issue of repealed Section 34 of the Administration of Justice (Indictable Proceedings) Act, stating her Government had “moved swiftly to successfully reverse the ill-effects” of the law, describing those effects as “unintended”.

AS SHE threw a coin into a pond located at the Beverly Hills’ housing complex during a tour yesterday of Laventille, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar wished for peace not only in the crime hot spot but throughout the country.

FUNDING for a water management and flood mitigation plan — with a focus on drainage in high risk areas — is a main focus of the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources in this year’s budget.
