Independent Senator, Gail Merhair has issued an invitation for Oilfield Workers Trade Union (OWTU) president, Ancil Roget, to meet with her to discuss the proposed property tax regime.

Roget called on Merhair and other Independent Senators to vote against the new regime during a silent protest held at the northern end of the Red House on Tuesday. The union is against the proposal since they believe it will create unnecessary hardship for the entire population.

Merhair, in a release stated that she noted the union’s concern and was willing to meet and discuss the matter.
