PRESIDENT George Maxwell Richards is reported to be making moves to oust Independent Senator Michael Annisette, according to political sources who hinted to Newsday yesterday.

The Independent senator, who also sits on the board of Udecott, has been at the centre of controversy, and has been the subject of calls for him to be removed because of his position on the Udecott board as well as on the board of other State agencies.

It is understood that the President is making moves to have Annisette removed, and may also replace another unnamed senator.

This month, Diego Martin West MP Dr Keith Rowley, called on the President to remove Annisette when the Commission of Inquiry (Validation and Immunity from Proceedings) bill came up for debate in the Senate. That bill was aimed at reviving the inquiry which has been mandated to scrutinise Udecott’s operations.
