JOB APPLICANT: PNM MP Donna Cox....
Former minister of state in the Ministry of National Security, Donna Cox, has landed a top job as Marketing Consultant with the National Infrastructure Development Company (NIDCO), which is an arm of the Ministry of Works.
Her salary and remuneration package amounts to $25,000 per month.
Cox, who is also a Member of Parliament receives a monthly salary of $15,000 as a serving MP.
Newsday understands that Cox, who is an active member of the People’s National Movement, and who recently won her seat in the May 25 General Election, will take up duties on Wednesday, and will work closely with Chairman of NIDCO, Dr Carson Charles.
Cox is expected to bring to the job her experience as a consultant in the field of marketing. Contacted yesterday, the former minister who was recuperating from surgery, confirmed that she had applied for the job at NIDCO, but added that she was not aware that she has been chosen for the job. She said she was going to make the necessary checks to ascertain if this was so.
Asked by Newsday if she was in fact chosen for the job, whether she anticipated any problems working closely with persons such as Minister Jack Warner, and Dr Charles, Cox said she is a professional, and like anyone else, she has to earn a living and serve her country. She admitted that she had not yet discussed her application to work at NIDCO with PNM’s political leader Dr Keith Rowley, who recently returned from a trip to London.
Attempts yesterday to contact NIDCO’s chairman, Dr Carson Charles for comment on the job offer to the former minister proved futile.
He was reported to be in Tobago on official business.
