Kamla’s plaque at UWI

Wednesday, August 8 2012

A PLAQUE was unveiled in honour of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and 16 other graduates of the University of the West Indies who have gone on to become a head of state in the region.

The Jamaica Gleaner online yesterday reported that Persad-Bissessar attended a ceremony at the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) yesterday afternoon. The university recently opened a new Chancery. The Gleaner said the ceremony was to unveil a plaque in Persad-Bissessar’s honour as one of 17 persons to graduate from the UWI and become a head of state in the region.

The Prime Minister was due to return to Trinidad yesterday evening, according to a press release issued yesterday by the Office of the Prime Minister. On Sunday, the Office of the Prime Minister said Persad-Bissessar would return to the country today.
