<description>GOVERNMENT will increase the National Insurance Board (NIB) pension from $2,000 to $3,000, Finance Minister Winston Dookeran announced yesterday. As he piloted legislation to give effect to the 2012 Budget, Dookeran said the new NIB pension would be effective February 1. The pension was agreed to after an actuarial review of the NIB was completed on January 2, 2012, following up on an earlier review done in June 2005.</description>
