Patrick beats older brother

Tuesday, June 2 2009

NKU PATRICK beat his older brother and first seed Mandela on Sunday to claim the Boys Under-15 division in the Holiday Snacks Junior National Championships at the Cascadia Squash Courts, St Ann’s.

Nku has been continuously improving over the years and showed that he will soon be a major contender in the senior ranks by defeating his brother to take the crown.

Jacob Gillezeau was third.

Nku was not done there, and returned as favourite to win the Under-13 division, beating Christian Edghill in the final. James Lanser secured the bronze.

And Ryan Bayne took the Under-17 Boys title, getting past Blayne Gomez in the final. Lionel Sorillo had to settle for third.

Jonathan Blanc grabbed gold in the Boys Under-11 category ahead of Carl Miller while James Merry was left disappointed in third position.

Meanwhile, first seed Kevin Ross beat Justin Sanguinette to take the Boys Under-19 crown. Chase Macquan was third.

And in the female equivalent, Amy Gillezeau disposed of Jessica Scott in the final to place first. Emily Bones finished third.

Bones did not leave the tournament empty-handed, however, defeating Charlotte Knaggs in the final while Talia Abdool placed third. Knaggs was also victorious in another age category, topping Abdool in the final of the Under-15 division. Rebecca Young Singh took the bronze.

In the Under-13 Girls division, Faith Gillezeau placed first while Shannon Young and Leann Young were second and third respectively.

Gabriella Scott took the Girls Under-11 title while Renee Bones and Megan Currie was second and third respectively.
