Tamana, Genesis Tyro champions

TAMANA UNITED crowned themselves queens of the bgTT/MP Anthony Roberts-sponsored Tyro Sports Club Windball Cricket League.

The Tamana women beat Base Girls by four wickets to win the women’s final last weekend.

The Base Girls totalled 86 for four wickets in their 12 overs led by Jasnelle Samuel with 21 not out, Alicia Marquis 14 not out and Paula Charles 18.

But Sylvia Bolah hit an unbeaten 20 to guide Tamana United to 87 for six with just four balls to spare.

Budweiser Genesis took the men’s title with an exciting seven-run victory over San Juan Revolution.

Led by Narine Samaroo with 36 and Justin Mungroo 15, Genesis totalled 104 for seven wickets in their 15 overs.

The San Juan men challenged the total throughout but managed just 97 for seven wickets when overs ran out.

Mickel Barath topscored with 19, David John got 16 not out and Ryan Baksh 10.



Honours roll (Men):

Most runs — Sunil Narine (Tyro 2009) 195; Most wickets — Mark Doolam (Poison) 14; First hat-trick - Andy Mapp (Excel); First 50 — Donnie Goberdhan (Jaggan United).



Most runs (match) — Donnie Goberdhan (Jaggan Utd); Player of the Big 8 Final — Narine Samaroo (Budweiser Genesis); Best uniformed team — Tyro 1979; Best manager - Larry Mykoo (San Juan Revolution); Best captain - Kris Samlal (Genesis); Most disciplined team Excel - $300.

Knockout winners — San Juan Revolution $2,500; Runners-up - Santa Cruz United.



Big 8 semi-finalist — Tyro 2009; Ping Pang Crew.



Group “A” winners — San Juan Revolution - $1,000; Group B - Budweiser Genesis - $1,000.
