Central Academy demolish HarvardSaturday, August 1 2009
DILLON THOMAS and Deon Flatts scored two goals apiece as Central Football Academy demolished Harvard 10-1 in Group “B” of the Under-15 Division as the playoff stage of the National Youth League took place on Wednesday.
Thomas found the back of the net in the 10th and 20th minutes, while Flatts scored in the 19th and 56th minutes. Other scorers for the Central Academy outfit were Jervais Attong (16th), Antonio Jeffrey (25th), Akeem James (38th), Sayyid Shah (61st), Jabari Burnett (70th) and Nicholas Halls (71st).
Isaac Deroche got the consolation item for Harvard in the 45th.
In another Group “B” Under-15 match, Queen’s Park whipped Point Fortin Civic Centre 3-0 with goals from Rondell Alves (18th), Christian Latapy (38th) and Trevin Latapy (52nd).
Also in the Under-15 Division, Joe Public trounced 1976 FC Phoenix 6-1 in Group “A” courtesy of a hat-trick from Damani Richards — he struck in the 12th, 42nd and 50th minutes. Leon Durity netted in the second and 52nd minutes while Nicholas Marcano scored in the 10th.
Jem Gordon was the lone goal-getter for Phoenix in the 14th.
The other Group “A” encounter saw 1st FC Santa Rosa rally from a goal down to spank Harlem Strikers 3-1 with Duane Muckette (53rd), Shaquille Antoine (60th) and Andre Rampersad (67th) on target, following a 48th minute strike from Jesus Gueillmo.
Phoenix, in Group “B” of the Under-17 Division, trounced Queen’s Park 4-0 with a double from Darryl Trim (50th and 61st) and one each from Kareem Mitchell (35th) and Ndu Bisi Hall (89th).
The other Group “B” Under-17 match was more gripping, as Defence Force got the better of Mayaro Spurs by a 4-2 margin. Jovet Williams got a pair for Defence Force (26th and 80th) while Emmanuel Antoine (20th) and Jamal Roberts (50th) chipped in with one apiece. Jade Cooper (42nd) and Daniel Smith (46th) were the marksmen for Mayaro.
In the Group “A” Under-17 section, Santa Rosa cruised past Harlem 3-1 with a double from Robert Alexis (32nd and 87th), following Jean-Paul Aqui Blanc’s 20th minute opener. Richard Seetahal got a late consolation for Harlem in the 90th.
The other Group “A” Under-17 game between Joe Public and Point Fortin has been pushed back to August 11.
