Thursday, December 10 2009
DIRECTV continues to enhance its television experience for customers. Effective Tuesday, December 1, ESPN HD – Channel 1011 was launched and added to the basic package at no extra cost to existing HD customers.
This brings the total number of HD channels offered in the basic package to 5. In order to optimise programming options and facilitate easy navigation, there was a reshuffle of the critical sports channels.
This change took place, also on December 1, and only affects the channel numbers assigned to sports channels in the basic package, DIRECT Latino, and premium sports packages.
ESPN HD – 1011 is the first 24-hour sports channel in High Definition in Latin America. This channel will provide sports fans with the most complete range of sports on the market inclusive of major international events.
This opens a new world of visual and auditory experiences for sports fans throughout Trinidad and Tobago offering the highest standards of HD signal for a sports channel coupled with DIRECTV’s HD DVR’s ability to; pause and rewind live television and record up to 50 hours in HD or up to 200 hours in standard definition.
The addition of ESPN HD complements DirecTV’s exclusive sports channel – DirectTV Sports – Channel 610, where the widest coverage of all sporting events are broadcast, with the best coverage of FIFA products.
In 2010, all world cup matches will be broadcast on Channel 610 and in HD on Channel 1004, live from South Africa.
Currently basketball fans are enjoying one exclusive match every Monday evening on Channels 610 & 1004.
Reshuffling of the sports channels has placed them closer to each other for easier navigation. The new channel number assignments are as follows: ESPN International – 620, ESPN 2 – 624, The Golf Channel – 628, and Speed Channel USA – 655 in DIRECTOTAL Basic Package. DirecTV Sports and Fox Sports – LA channel numbers remain the same.
In DIRECT Latino; Speed Channel LA - 634. NBA Pass Premium Package customers can now catch their playoffs on Channels 675 & 676 and MLB Extra Innings can be viewed on Channels 680 – 682. These changes will not affect programming and costs of the various packages.
DIRECTV continues to provide the best television experience throughout the Caribbean with new and innovative programming offers and cutting edge technology with its DIRECTV Plus Digital Video Recorder which gives customers the power to record, pause, and rewind live television and record up to 100 hours of programming.
