Get set for High Mas in Juvenile SprintSaturday, December 12 2009
GO brave with High Mas to win the feature UPTC Juvenile Sprint on Arima Race Club Day 43 at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, today.
On a race day designated Jamaican Day at the Races in which all races except the feature have been named after Jamaican-bred Derby winners and other outstanding runners, High Mas is the fancy for the 1200 metres race worth a total of $150,000.
But he will have to pull out all the stops to deny Bristling, Rewardsinheaven and Princess Indra.
Bristling was a handsome 8 ½ lengths winner of his debut start over 1100 metres ahead of Officer Ike and Princess Indra while Rewardsinheaven was equally impressive winner in near record time over 1000 metres.
High Mas won over 1300 metres with a ton in hand in the good time of one minute 19.26 seconds. Five two-year-olds will make their debut to racing in the Mr Lover Lover 1100 metres, but none should get home before Defining Moment fourth behind Grand Riviere in Saturday last’s St Ann’s Stakes over 1350 metres.
Nad Al Sheba could be the biggest danger to the selection in this race, but there is a loud whisper for Victorian Summer.
Bullion Babe should be home first in the Swing By 1100 metres on the turf course, the second of three Hi 5 races. This filly will have to hold off stablemate Call Of The Wild and Homebush Baby, however.
It will be a toss up between Finch and Majestic Gold to win the first Hi 5 race with a single winner bonus of $36,794.72.
Naturelly Classy, if in the mood, can be the fly in the ointment with Dream Master a live outsider.
Mister Kingston should complete another grand day for trainer John O’Brien by taking the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association Jamaica Stakes over 1300 metres and the purse of $45,000. He will have very serious rivals in Luca’s Gold, Just In Time, Mission King and Marathon Man. The day’s opener is timed for 12.10 pm.
