Meanwhile, while top contender for the rich $500,000 First Citizens Gold Cup Bruceontheloose was taking a holiday, chief rival Blackstone Street was a no show at gallops.



Old man and defending Gold Cup winner Chief Commander was seen out pacing over 600 metres in 44.0 seconds, and his John o’Brien stablemate Raging Halo went over the same distance to be clocked in 44.4 seconds.



These two were the only Gold Cup contenders seen at gallops yesterday morning.



But Sexy And Single who is engaged in the Trotters Sports Bar Trophy over 1350 metres signalled her intention to take a hand in the finish with a good gallop over 1000 metres together with stablemate Truculent who is also in the same race, timed in one minute 04.0 seconds.



Two-year-old king Treasure Hunt was seen out going 600 metres in 40.1 seconds very easily as he gets ready for next week’s First Citizens First Classic. Also galloping yesterday morning with this First Classic in mind was the filly Inconclusive who had a good run over 800 metres clocked in 52.0 seconds.



Many trainers chose to send their charges doing pace work yesterday, and may have a final tune-up today.
