DIGICEL have come to the aid of the Haitian Football Federation and Special Olympics Association in the wake of the recent devastating earthquake.

According to Digicel representative Emma Hynes yesterday, the communications giants supplied 350 members of the football body and special Olympians with food, water, milk and medical supplies.

Apart from the sports people, Digicel also sent aid to the earthquake-hit country by way of providing the Ministry of Health with Digicel parasols and T-Shirts for their mobile vaccination clinics in Port-au-Prince.

And according to plan, each vaccinated individual will raceive a Digicel T- shirt.

Jean Chevalier Sanbon, president of the Haiti Special Olympics team commented, “our school was badly damaged in the earthquake and we had to move all of our athletes to a campsite at a local church in Montrouis.”

He said, “spirits have been quite low at the camp so we were delighted when Digicel arrived to distribute care packs to the athletes.

Digicel have supported us through thick and thin since 2006 and I’d like to thank them for once again being there for us.”

Tatiana Policard, Digicel Haiti marketing director said, “We have been sponsoring the national football federation and special Olympians since 2006 and we are delighted to be able to help them during this difficult time.”

She also said, “I have to applaud the Ministry of Health for setting up the mobile vaccination clinics and I’m delighted that Digicel have been able to support them in this initiative.”
