TT to host West Indies U-15 ChampionshipsMonday, March 22 2010
The West Indies Under-15 Championships will be held in Trinidad and Tobago once again from March 27 to April 5.
Jamaica are the defending champions with Trinidad and Tobago finishing as runners-up at the previous tournament. All teams have practise sessions scheduled for March 28 and 31 at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain and the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva. The Ministry of Sport will host the closing ceremony on April 4 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port-of-Spain.
The new administration of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) headed by Azim Bassarath has installed Bachan Boochan as coach and Glen Dwarika as manager to bring success back to an underachieving programme. Boochan is the most successful national under-15 coach guiding such players as Tishan Maraj, Denesh Ramdin, Lendl Simmons and Ravi Rampaul through the youth ranks. Dwarika also had a distinguished club career, scoring the first century in the National League while playing for Clarke Road.
Vikash Mohan will captain the national under-15 team which includes exciting opening batsman, Jeremy Solozano who played in last year’s tournament.
