‘Soccer Saturdays’ Futsal at Maloney

Wednesday, June 30 2010

THE THIRD leg of the seven-series Soccer Saturdays will take place on July 17 at the Maloney Indoor Sport Arena, from 9 am to 9 pm.

This edition is dubbed the “Futsal Edition” and it will feature the five-a- side format, in this fast-paced version of the game.

Sixteen teams will vie for the “winner-take-all” prize of $5,000 and bragging rights.

The registration fee, for a team of ten players, is $800 and each team will receive a case of sport drinks.

There will be a well-stocked non-alcoholic bar, food and live entertainment at the Maloney Arena, while lunch will be provided to teams, upon request.

The Soccer Saturdays, organised by the SW Touring Team (producers of Futsal Invitational), has issued an invitation to all sporting clubs, organisations and fete-match teams to partake in the seven-game tournament, which takes place every seven weeks throughout communities in Trinidad and Tobago.

On March 6, at the Larry Gomes Stadium Training Facility in Arima, TTEC won the First Leg, ahead of Malabar FC. And, on April 17, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium Training Facility, MAASH International emerged victorious in the Second Leg, with the runners-up prize going to Toyota.

Clubs, organisations and persons interested in participating in the event can call 765-4439 or 306-0270; and/or by e-mailing the team’s information (team name, contact name and number, e-mail address, fax number) to futsalnation@gmail.com.
