OLYMPIC bronze medallist George Bovell III placed seventh in the Men’s “B” 50m freestyle final at the Senior Pan Pacific Championships over the weekend.

Bovell was in a three-way tie for 13th in the preliminaries in a time of 22.56 and went on to clock 22.68 in the “B” final.

Bovell won CAC gold earlier this year in the same event in 22.23 seconds.

The 50m “A” final was won by American Nathan Adrian in a new Pan Pacific record of 21.55 seconds, erasing the old time of 21.64 which was set in the preliminaries by world record holder Cesar Cielo of Brazil. Cielo got the silver in 21.57 while Brent Hayden of Canada earned the bronze in 21.89.

Bovell will next be in action at the Commonwealth Games in India later this year.
