THE best Trini striker is being offered an opportunity to win an all expense paid trip to meet French striker Thierry Henry and Mexican captain Rafa Marquez and attend the New York Red Bulls’ 2011 season opening match in New York, USA.

On September 18, at 11 am at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain, opposite QRC, the first of three qualifying events of Red Bull Toe 2 Toe will be staged.

It is an amateur football competition in which two players face-off one on one against a neutral goalkeeper to determine who is the best striker in Trinidad and Tobago. The National Final, where the winner will be crowned, will take place on November 6 from noon in Chaguaramas.

“Red Bull Toe 2 Toe will provide a structured platform for a street game that a lot of youngsters already play,” said Brent Sancho, former national football player and spokesperson of the event.

“The opportunity to go to New York and see Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez play live is not something one comes across everyday, so we hope the most talented players of the islands compete in the qualifying events,” Sancho said.

The rules of Red Bull Toe 2 Toe are simple: Games last up to five minutes or until one of the two players score three goals, whichever happens first.

In case of a tie, each player will have three chances to score facing only the goalkeeper. The winner advances to the next elimination round and so forth, until the best striker of Trinidad and Tobago is determined.
