FIRST Citizens Clarke Road returned unbeaten from their 12-day tour of Canada last week. The Penal, south Trinidad based club played seven matches which included two Twenty20 and 40-over matches as well as a 30-over and masters match against the top clubs in the Canada.

Clarke Road had comfortable victories in their Twenty20 matches. They defeated Quebec Cricket Federation by seven wickets with Sean Siloch top scoring with 26 not out and followed up with an impressive nine wickets win over Caribbean Combined with former West Indies Under-19 opening batsman, Tishan Maraj scoring 40 runs.

Clarke Road defeated Caribbean Limers due to a better run rate before a thunderstorm brought a premature end to the 30-over match. Leg-spinner Sanjiv Gooljar took four for seven to dismiss Caribbean Limers for 124. Batsmen Siloch and Maraj were unbeaten on 32 and 28 with Clarke Road on 79 for one after 19 overs before the match was brought to an early close.

Veterans Mahadeo Bodoe (4/24) and Mukesh Persad (3/23) restricted Hawaiian Artic for 158 for nine in the second 30-over match. Maraj continued his good form scoring 55 runs before retiring as Clarke Road finished on 160 for three to complete a seven wicket win. There were also victories against Viking Cricket Club, Overseas Cricket Club and the Overseas Masters.
