THE LAUNCH of the 2012 Southern Games will be held on February 23 at the Petrotrin Sports Club, Point-a-Pierre from 5pm.

This year’s edition of the Games will be held on March 24 and 25 at numerous locations in South Trinidad. Track and field heats will be held on February 26 at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva from 8am.

Also falling under the Southern Games banner this year would be a Twenty20 cricket match at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre on March 16 from 3pm. The “Marabella Mile” runs off from TECU Building, Marabella on March 18.

A full cast of amateur boxers will also compete for top honours on March 21 at Gurarcara Park. The annual Cycling Road Race pedals off at its original location at Awardy’s Hardware, Marabella, on March 22 at 7pm. For the second year in running, amateur shooting will take place at the Forest Park Range in Claxton Bay. This take place on March 24 and 25 at 8am.
