‘Red Force’ in trouble

TRINIDAD AND Tobago were in early trouble against the Combined Campuses and Colleges in their Day/Night match in the opening round of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Regional Four-Day tournament at the 3W’s Oval in Barbados, yesterday.

“Red Force” captain Denesh Ramdin elected to bat first after winning the toss and his batsmen were unable to capitalise on a good batting wickets. At press time the “Red Force” were 141 for six with off-spinner Ryan Austin doing the damage with figure of four for 46 from. Skipper Ramdin was at the crease unbeaten on 13 along with Kieron Pollard on three not out.

Trinidad and Tobago made a terrible start, losing opening batsman Lendl Simmons for 10, edging pacer Jason Holder to wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton with the score on 36. Jason Mohammed joined opening batsman and their pair consolidated the early loss with of Simmons’ wicket. They took the score to 75, before Mohammed became Austin’s first wicket, caught at short leg for 20. The “Red Force” entered the dinner break on 81 for two. CCC pressed their advantage on the resumption of play, with Barath trapped leg before wicket for 28 by pacer Kevin McClean.

The “Red Force” decline continued with Darren Bravo caught at a backward point by Ramon Reife for 15, playing a lose shot against Austin. His elder brother Dwayne became Austin’s third victim, caught at leg-slip for 11 leaving CCC on top before skipper Ramdin was caught by wicketkeeper Walton for 11, playing a sweep shot off the CCC spipper
