Oasis set sail with LewisThursday, July 5 2012
Andrew Lewis, Trinidad and Tobago’s first Olympic sailing representative in decades, will continue to benefit from Oasis Premium Purified Water’s sponsorship as he prepares for an exciting and eventful summer.
Oasis water is the official water sponsor of “Lightning Laser” Lewis, as part of the brand’s campaign to play its part in the development of young promising athletes.
Lewis, 22 years old, recently returned to Trinidad following a gruelling qualification process in the Audi Laser World Championships in Boltenhagen, Ger-
many, held from May 4-10.
It was there Andrew earned one of the 12 spots available at this event for Olympic qualification.
“Not many people get to represent their country at the Olympics so this is a real honour for me and I must thank those persons who have been working with me to prepare, including Oasis Premium Purified Water and SM Jaleel & Company Limited.
“They have really showed a lot of confidence in me and I really appreciate that,” states Lewis.
Even before he had tasted the success of qualification, Oasis Premium Purified Water had come on board with the young sailor. “Managers of Oasis and SM Jaleel by extension have always believed strongly in the ability of our local athletes,” explains Oasis Brand Marketing Manager Shireen Ali.
“We know how passionate Andrew is about his sport and how hard he trains to be the best he can be, so it was a very easy decision for us to offer him our support.”
Although Lewis is not the first sailor who will represent this country at the Olympics, he will be the first to compete in the Laser class and he expects to do TT proud in London.
While there are no guarantees in sport, what is certain is that Andrew Lewis will be giving his all when he hits the sea this summer in London.
