Red Force start training for CLT20Thursday, July 5 2012
THE national cricket team will officially start preparations today for the 2012 Champions League T20 Championships with sessions at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva.
The Champions League is scheduled for South Africa later this year.
TT have already qualified for the CLT20 by virtue of winning the Caribbean T20 Championships which were contested in January. This year will mark the third time in four years that T&T will be participating in the lucrative competition.
The TTCB announced that 38 players have been called to training which will be conducted by Technical Director David Williams with the assistance of coach Kelvin Williams who has specific responsibility for the national youth teams.
Included in the training squad are cricketers who are currently on regional duty with the West Indies team currently taking on New Zealand in an One-day International series.
Among them are brothers Dwayne and Darren Bravo, Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine.
Also named in the training squad is pacer Shannon Gabriel who was picked in the WI squad for their tour of England two months ago but suffered an injury and had to return home. A notable inclusion in the squad is former national captain Daren Ganga who led TT in their first two appearances in the CLT20 which were both staged in India.
