GOAL Shoot Laurel Brown and Goal Attack Nikita Piggott were on a rampage as they helped Barbados to a commanding 90-19 win over Grenada at the Jean Pierre Complex on Wednesday evening.

This was the Barbadians fifth win in as many matches of the Americas Federation of Netball Associations (AFNA) 2012 Championship. Brown, who is among the top three shooters in the tournament, scored 41-43, while Piggott has 30-35. Barbados proved too much for their opponents and opened a 22-8 lead in the first-quarter, which increased to 43-15 by the half. Things got tougher for Grenada as they could only manage two goals in the third and fourth periods. The girls from the Land of Flying Fish added 47 in the last two-quarters to complete the demolition. Cecile Roberts was Grenada’s top performer with 9-12.

In other matches, the United States claimed their third win as they took care of Guyana 82-25. Goal Shoot Swasha Shaw was 39-54 and Goal Attack Camile Henry 35-37, while Angeline Mc Carty was 18-27 for the Guyanese. Canada was also in the winners’ row claiming a 49-31 victory over Bermuda. It was the first for the Canadians who were led by Nickel Cherrydon 40-52.

Meanwhile the Bajans were expected to get their toughest test last evening when they came up against World # four ranked Jamaica, who are also unbeaten.
