IMRAN KHAN and Nicholas Sookdeosingh had good performances with the bat while Kavesh Kantasingh and Daron Cruickshank were equally successful with the ball as the Jason Mohammed XI defeated the Rayad Emrit XI by 20 runs yesterday in the sixth Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) T20 Trial Match at the National Cricket Centre, Couva.

Batting first after winning the toss, the Mohammed XI posted a score of 157 runs for five wickets and restricted the Emrit XI to 137/9.

A downpour, midway in the Mohammed XI innings (the score at the time was 95/2 off 13 overs) resulted in an hour-long delay.

But Khan was not to be denied, as he topscored with 41 (39 balls with three fours), while Sookdeosingh contributed 31 (18 balls, two sixes and a four), Yannick Ottley 25, Keon Celestine 23 not out and Mohammed 21. Former national and West Indies fast bowler Mervyn Dillon was the chief destroyer for the Emrit XI with two wickets for 17 runs, while leg-spinner Samuel Badree, off-spinner Ancil Bhaggan and left-arm spinner Kharry Pierre took one wicket apiece.

Kantasingh, with his left-arm spin, caused havoc in the Emrit XI run chase, as he snapped up 4/12, while Cruickshank took 2/18 with his medium pace. Pacer Navin Stewart, left-arm spinners Ottley and Dave Mohammed had one wicket each for the Mohammed XI.

In the Emrit XI innings, Aaron Alfred led the way with 33 (22 deliveries, five fours and a six), while former national captain Daren Ganga had 25 (23 balls, two fours) and Dillon an unbeaten 23 (19 balls, two sixes and one four).
