Malabar stay top in EFA

Saturday, August 4 2012

MALABAR FC stayed top of the nine-team standings in the Emerald Apartments and Plaza-sponsored Eastern Football Association (EFA) Premiership Division after Round Eight matches took place last weekend.

Malabar FC were held to a 1-1 draw by neighbours La Horquetta SA with David Power equalising for Malabar in the 42nd minute after Keron Robinson put La Horquetta in front after 21 minutes.

Second-placed Valtrin United dropped crucial points in the race for the top spot after they fell 1-0 away to FC Maloney, who got an 80th minute item from ex-national defender Shurland David.

Joe Public moved up to third place following a 2-1 win away to Carib FC. Rashad Griffith got a pair for Joe Public, in the 21st and 77th minutes, while Gellineau Gill got the lone strike for Carib, in the 39th.

Carib played twice over the weekend, as they overcame Boss FC 3-2 with two goals from Gill (26th and 68th) and one from Tennesse Ragoonath (71st), while Anthony Applewhite (12th) and Jovon Vincent (53rd) responded for Boss FC.

Boss FC, unfortunately, suffered back-to-back losses over the weekend, as they fell 4-2 to WASA FC.

Elon James netted a double for WASA, in the 41st and 50th minutes, with Keron Smith scoring in the 87th while Anton De Leon added an own goal, in the 79th.

Boss FC got a goal apiece from Nkosi David (sixth) and Johan Scott (63rd).
