THE Adoring Groom feature over 1750 metres looks like a two-horse race when the cancelled Race Day 28 programme will be run off at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, today as Race Day 29.

Winner of this $50,000 event for horses rated 90-70 should be decided between Golden Dixieland and Go For The Gold.

But pride of place today will be taken by the Jetsam Awards ceremony and whether Bruceontheloose, winner in 2009 and 2010, will create history by taking the Horse of the Year title for a third consecutive time eclipsing Sugar Mike 2003 and 2004. As previously advertised the awards will be distributed between races starting from the third.

The big one, the Horse of the Year 2011 is timed to be announced after the seventh race.

Also today, four young “Knights of the Pigskin” will be making their race riding debut - David Butcher, Steve Jadoo and Romario Hernandez, all 20-year-olds along with 16-year-old Kerron Khelawan, brother of top apprentice Dillon. Four races have been designated to the popular Hi5 betting - the fourth, sixth, eighth and 10th - which has a carryover pool of $27,835.20 added to a single winner bonus of $23,141.05.
