THE fastest cyclist in the Western Hemisphere, Njisane Phillip, will take part in the Jubilee Tribute Fun and Fitness Ride on Monday alongside some of this country’s top riders including Gene Samuel and Quincy Alexander.

The event is a warm-up to the 2012 Tour of Trinidad and Tobago’s Unity Bicycle Race which is being held in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Independence of this country.

The event will feature competitors from around the Caribbean, the UK, Austria, USA, Germany and Canada. At least 1,000 members of the public are expected to participate by riding with the competitors during this Tribute Ride on Monday. The race starts from the Arima Velodrome at 7am, heading onto the Arima Old Road to the Churchill Roosevelt Highway and ends at the Financial Complex on Independence Square where participants will rest for 20 minutes and continue back up the highway to end at the Arima Velodrome.

The course allows citizens to participate by riding along and cheering at the roadside. Meanwhile, the official race starts from August 23 and ends on September 2.
