TRINIDAD and Tobago’s Sachin Kumar narrowly missed out on claiming the Florida State Golf Association Junior Tournament over the weekend in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Kumar, one of two TT golfers, shot a 71 on Sunday and tied with the eventual winner Jacob Kilne who also shot 71.

The two then squared-off in a sudden death play-off on hole 10. After both players split the fairway, Kumar hit a mid iron to approximately ten feet. With the pressure on, Kline pulled his approach shot slightly left, but deftly used the slope to his advantage, and watched the ball rolled almost in before it came to rest less than a foot from the hole.

Kumar needed to make the shot to take the title, however his birdie attempt narrowly missed and Kline was able to tap in for the win. As a result of his performance, Kumar has been invited to three US National Tournaments.

The other TT golfer Wan Ju Lee who shot 76 on Sunday, finished 18th in the tournament. The young golfers which made TT proud were expected home yesterday.
