Solozano to miss Hillview’s clash with Fatima

BY KEVIN SUNICH Tuesday, February 19 2013

LEADERS Hillview College will be without their prolific runs scorer Jeremy Solozano when they travel to Fatima ground to take on the home team in their Premier Division match of the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) today.

The national Under-19 batsman who has scored two centuries so far in the tournament reportedly strained his groin in their last match against Carapichamia where he scored 107 to guide his team to victory.

Head coach Richard Kelly Senior said he would definitely be out for this encounter. “I found out after the match on Thursday and we have made an appointment with Dr Terrance Babwah for tomorrow morning (today). After that we would know the extent of the injury. We don’t want to take any chances as it could get worse,” said Kelly.

He said despite the news of Solozano not being able to play the players are in high spirits. “After our win over ‘Caps’ the boys’ confidence has gone up and they believe that they are capable of pulling this match off. While he will be missed one player is not a team and while himself and Jesse Bootan were away with the Secondary School team in India, we played two matches winning one and drawing the other. So I think we are going to come away with a win once we play as a unit like we have done in the last three matches,” said the coach.

Hillview who are ahead of Caps by six points will need to win their encounter to stay in the lead. Carapichaima on the other hand will be hoping to rebound from their defeat on Thursday and are favoured to claim full points from Iere High School who are second from the bottom on 28 points.
