Solo Crusaders ‘B’ team win 4-0

Trinidad and Tobago Table Tennis Association second division first round table leaders, Solo Crusaders ‘B’ made an impressive return to the nationwide tournament’s second round campaign when they drubbed their ‘A’ club-mates 4-0 at the Diego Martin Central Community Centre on Tuesday.

Riad Abasali led the charge for the ‘B’ team as he defeated Billy Guo 12-10, 13-11, 11-9 and then teamed up with Imtiaz Mohammed to beat Kwame Lawrence/ Aldwyn Rose 11-7, 11-6, 11-6 in the lone Doubles encounter (2-0).

Vinoo Maraj then produced a valiant display to stop Richard Young with an 11-8, 11-3, 8-11, 11-3 performance. Anil Ramlakhan then made it 4-0 with a late 11-9, 11-13, 6-11, 11-7, 15-13 fight-back.

In other matches on Tuesday, second placed Arima Hawks remained in close contention for top-spot after securing an important 4-1 win over UWI at the Arima West Government Primary School.

Seasoned player, Linda Partap-Boodan played well and overpowered Ambika Sitram with a deserved 11-9, 9-11, 6-11, 11-5, 11-5 win. Partap-Boodan then partnered with the young but experienced Brittany Joseph, to claim the Doubles match with a 6-11, 11-5, 11-2, 11-2 over Sitram/ Asid Harford. Joseph then won her second match when she conquered Harford 11-6, 11-5, 2-11, 11-9. Rawle Parsons then made it 4-0 when he eased past Vidal Sarwan 11-8, 11-2, 11-5.

Ronald Williams was the lone UWI player to record a win as he defeated Keron Ali 11-4, 11-5, 11-6.
