Parkites humiliate Diamond at Oval

QUEEN’S PARK inflicted serious humiliation on F&E Diamond United, dismissing the visitors for a mere 16 runs at the Queen’s Park Oval, St Clair yesterday to claim their Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) National League Premier Division Final Round meeting by an innings-and-51 runs.

The 2012 champs, who held a first innings lead of 67 runs, skittled out Diamond for the lowest Premier Division total in recent memory, as Tion Webster collected five wickets for 11 runs and Sherwin Peters 5/5.

In reply to Diamond United’s 266, Queen’s Park, resuming on 130/3, were bowled out for 333 with a top-score of 74 from former West Indies Under-19 batsman Jonathan Augustus, 62 from ex-national opener Marlon Barclay and 45 from Webster.

Shivan Narine captured 3/54 and Farrell Jugmohan 3/83 for Diamond.

Newly-crowned champs PowerGen held on for a draw against hosts Moosai Sports, despite surrendering first innings points at Honeymoon Park, Tunapuna.

From their overnight score of 192/7, in response to Moosai’s 324, PowerGen were bowled out for 234 with Rajendra Chandrika making 69, national ‘limited-overs specialist’ Sherwin Ganga 52 and ex-TT opener Evin Lewis 35.

Amir Khan claimed 5/61 and evergreen left-arm spinner Ken Hazel 3/80.

Moosai, in their second innings, declared on 202/5 with discarded national player Kjorn Ottley scoring 75, Jeetendra Sookdeo 44 and Ewart Nicholson 25 not out. Another recent TT player, left-arm spinner Kavesh Kantasingh, took 3/72.

Set a victory target of 293, PowerGen finished on 230/7 with Khan grabbing 6/82.

Lewis led the scoring for the visitors with 80, while Ganga notched 40, Nicholas Sookdeosingh 38 and Chandrika 25.

There were outright victories for Merry Boys over Bamboo Sports and Clarke Road over Caldrac, while Esmeralda got first innings points in their drawn encounter against Comets.

At Wilson Road, Penal: FIRST CITIZENS CLARKE ROAD 304 & 121/8 dec - Nicholas Pooran 30, Ranga Lachana 25; Christopher Vincent 3/36, Robert Mahabir 2/27 vs CALDRAC CLUB 166 - Antonio Aziz 58, Franklyn Rouse 30; Mukesh Persad 4/60, Sanjiv Gooljar 3/29 & 85 - Royston Crandon 45, Mark Deyal 23; Derone Davis 7/20. Clarke Road won by 174 runs.
