EPHRAIM SERRETTE has retained his post as president of the National Association of Athletic Administration (NAAA) after defeating long-standing official Rawle Raphael, the founder of the Hampton Athletic Club and the Hampton International Games, in yesterday’s election of officers, at the NAAA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the VIP Lounge, Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo.

The former national sprinter got 56 votes to Raphael’s 14 for the position of president, and will be serving his third three-year term at the helm - he took over from Ken Doldron who resigned in 2006 and was re-elected in 2007 and 2010.

And he will have George Commissiong as his deputy, as Commissiong was elected unopposed.

Dr Ian Hypolite, who is the coach of World 400-metre hurdles champion Jehue Gordon, defeated Albert King 39-30 for the post of second vice-president.

Two members of the Raphael slate were voted in to the new executive, with Jim Clarke beating Durly Lucas 35-29 to become the third vice-president while Paul Voisin got the better of Nadine Hamid 39-30 for the role as fourth vice-president.

Carlene Haynes and Peter Samuel were elected unopposed for the spots of treasurer and public relations officer respectively, while the trustees are Hasely Crawford, Gunness Persad and Dawn Washington.
