Kent coach for Nazee Christmas Cricket Camp

Saturday, December 7 2013

NAZEE Cricket Academy will be hosting a five-day Christmas cricket camp featuring Kent coach James Weaver at the Charlieville Recreation Ground from December 16-20.

The Academy promises that the camp will be an unforgettable experience for the children as the participants will be taught first hand by Weaver, the High Performance Manager at Kent County Cricket Club in England since 2006.

He is an England and Wales Cricket Board Level IV coach and coach education manager. He received the Lords Taverners Coaching Scholarship in Australia in 2002 and played for Shropshire County Cricket Club in England.

Parents and guardians can enroll their children at Ramsingh’s Sportsworld in Couva/Chaguanas.

Children in the camp will be separated into groups based on their age and ability and each group will be overseen by a local WICB certified coach. Weaver will rotate between the groups, giving equal attention to each. The campers will gain from bowling practice in the nets, batting practice on the Nazee bowling machine, fielding practice with the academy’s fielding machine and 20-over matches on the recreation ground.

A speed gun will also be used to allow the young bowlers to track their bowling speed. Top performers of the camp will receive new bats and other cricket gear as prizes.

The Academy guarantees that bringing Weaver from the UK will be an extremely beneficial learning experience for the youngsters. Most importantly, the top participant in the camp will be personally invited by Weaver to attend a training camp at Kent County Cricket Club in the UK.

In 2012, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who recently joined the 11,000 runs club in Test cricket, coached at Nazee’s summer cricket camp while former West Indies captain, Clive Lloyd was the head coach at their summer camp earlier this year.

Nazee hopes to continue bringing international cricketing icons to Trinidad every holiday to help motivate the young cricketers and aid in producing professional West Indies cricketers for the future. Interested parents can call 725-2867 or email info@ nazeett.com for more information.
