Moosai’s SC to pay for funeral

Monday, March 31 2014

Coach of Moosai Sports Club, Amin Forgenie, revealed yesterday that his club will foot the entire bill for the funeral of their former player, Tevin Robertson, who passed away in a vehicular accident on Saturday.

Forgenie, who has worked with Robertson since the age of 11, noted that he was deeply saddened by the sudden passing of the youngster and admitted that this was indeed a trying time for his players at Moosai.

“The club’s management had a meeting this morning (yesterday) to (discuss) our way forward from here. Since the announcement of his passing the club has made the decision to handle all the funeral arrangements and costs. It’s hard on a number of the guys — players like Vikash Mohan, Brian Christmas, Anthony Simmons, they are guys who have played national Under-19 cricket with him last year. And now it just so happens that all of them played for different clubs last year, are now playing for the same club in the Premiership this year, so that bond would have gotten stronger. With his passing now, you find that the guys seemed to be really bothered,” explained Forgenie.

In commemoration of Robertson, players will be displaying black armbands during matches for the rest of the season. Forgenie indicated they have asked the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board to postpone Wednesday’s Premiership Twenty20 match against Seenath’s Auto Bamboo.
