Merry Boys trounce Aranguez in TTCB T20

MERRY Boys eased past HKL Aranguez by nine wickets in round one of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board Premiership T20 competition, yesterday.

Bowling first at the Brian Lara Recreation Ground in Santa Cruz, Merry Boys restricted Aranguez for a modest 111 for two. Kadeem Williams top scored with an unbeaten 50, while Deon Ferrier made 25. Merry Boys’ Rishaad Harris slammed nine fours and four sixes in a knock of 69 not out off 35 balls while Aaron Alfred contributed an unbeaten 23 as Merry Boys raced to 112/1 in 9.3 overs. Queen’s Park One and Queen’s Park Two will play the last round one match today at the Queen’s Park Oval from 2.30 pm.

The top two teams in each of the four groups will advance to the quarterfinals. Round two will be played on Tuesday.

POWERGEN 189/7 (Jason Mohammed 46, A Fletcher 39, Jon-Russ Jagessar 2/32, Eugene La Fleur 2/24) vs CALDRAC 182/8 (Franklyn Rouse 43, Crystian Thurton 38, Mark Deyal 4/27) Powergen won by seven runs.

ALESCON COMETS 178/4 (W George 70, Steven Katwaroo 64 not out) vs MOOS AI 135/5 (D Alden 40, Kareem Hamilton 38) Comets won by 43 runs.

F&E DIAMOND 148/4 (Gavin Boolah 67, S Ramdass 28 not out) vs FIRST CITIZENS CLARKE RO AD 151/3 (19.1 overs) (Jyd Goolie 67 not out, Sean Siloch 30) Clarke Road won by seven wickets.

CANE FARM 173/8 (Kissoondath Magram 3/26) vs CENTRAL SPORTS 178/7 (19.2 overs) (Royston Crandon 73, K Magram 30) CENTRAL SPORTS won by three wickets.
