Lara launches Lounge and Memorabilia Museum

Wednesday, August 9 2017

WEST Indies icon Brian Lara, is giving fans the opportunity to witness the special moments in his decorated career at the Brian Lara 400* Pop-up Lounge and Memorabilia Museum, located at the Corner of Sweet Briar Road and Elizabeth Street in St Clair (directly opposite the Trini Posse stand at the Queen’s Park Oval).

The museum includes some of the gear Lara wore during his career, along with plaques in which the former left-hander describes some of his top innings. The museum also includes paintings by an artist named Kibwe of iconic TT personalities such as Dwight Yorke, Russell Latapy, Dr Eric Williams and Lara himself.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 10 am to midday from yesterday until Friday. Lara is hoping youngsters would be inspired when they visit the museum.

During a media conference on Monday, Lara said, “This idea is something that I had for a very long time. I remember sending some of my bats to the Queen’s Park Oval, they had a museum there as well. I felt what a wonderful opportunity, I had this property for a couple weeks, and it is during the CPL (Caribbean Premier League). It is the school holidays, but maybe we could get some youngsters to pass through.” Lara, who invited members of the St James Police Youth Club to visit the museum on Monday, encouraged the youngsters to never give up. Lara said, “It does not matter how difficult any situation is. It is a lot of hard work you have to put in, and don’t ever feel that I had it easy or I did not fail and had to pick myself up. Someone asked me earlier on if at any point in time I ever felt like giving up.

No point in time I felt like giving up. I didn’t know where I was going, but I enjoyed the challenge all the time. Whenever you meet challenges don’t side step it, go straight towards
