Cropper gets her Masters

Tuesday, July 31 2007

FORMER Trinidad and Tobago swimming star Siobhan Cropper recently graduated with her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the Columbia University, New York.

The 28-year-old added that distinction to her Bachelor of Arts Degree which she obtained at Stanford University in California six years ago.

Cropper is now employed with General Electric (GE) and will leverage her Masters Degree in Finance and Management to work for GE’s Financial Sponsor Group, who provide financial loans to private equity firms.

As a GE associate, Cropper will perform extensive analysis and due diligence to identify risks associated with the extension of credit and determine the appropriate capital structure and pricing.

The daughter of Vilma and Anthony Cropper, Siobhan was a past pupil of Mucurapo Girls’ RC School and St Joseph’s Convent, Port of Spain.

A competitive swimmer since the age of ten, Cropper held national records at all strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and medley) at all age groups.

Cropper dominated the local and regional circuit during the 1990s, with the highlight of her career being an eighth-place finish in the 50-metre freestyle at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, United States, becoming the first local swimmer to advance to an Olympic final.
