TRINIDAD and Tobago’s Anderson Charles made his mark at the recent United States Open Draughts Championship in Miami, Florida where he placed third.

Anderson was also third in the national championship and replaced the runner-up of the tournament who was unable to attend the US competition.

A number of countries took part in the tournament, among them Haiti, Suriname, Canada, Russia and the host country.

The tournament had been Charles’ second international meeting, the first being at the Pan American Games in Canada in 2005 where he placed 6th.

The US Open Draughts tournament was held between April 20 and 26.
