Tuesday, October 21 2008

THE seven-year-old warrior Chief Commander is in fine form ahead of Saturday’s feature Caribbean Champion Stakes.

The son of Freshly Squeezed/Concordia out of the John O’Brien barn had a commanding gallop on Sunday morning, clocking a very good one minute 02.1 seconds for the 1000 metres trip.

Also showing good form ahead of the 1800 metres race was Crown Point who went over 800 metres yesterday in 51.2 seconds. And Godspell who also hold the engagement winged through 600 metres in a good 36.1 seconds.

Just In Time, beaten into fourth in the Royal Oak Derby had two sparkling gallops, first on Sunday morning the colt travelled 1000 metres in one minute 03.1 seconds, and yesterday he sizzled over 600 metres in the smart time of 34.3 seconds together with Derby winner Pride ‘N’ Glory, both from the Glenn Mendez barn.

Willing To Spend, also from the Mendez barn, who goes after her ninth consecutive victory in the Caribbean Sprint Championship over 1200 metres, clocked an excellent 36.1 seconds over 600 metres.
