The competition consists of a league, a knockout, and a big four competition, and is open to male and female students.

For the past five years, the event has had significant support from RBTT Bank. Speaking at the launch Deborah Baboolal, branch manager RBTT Bank — San Juan reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to support the communities in which it operates and to help build skills among young people.



“As an RBC company, RBTT’s commitment to youth development remains unchanged.



RBC believes our responsibility as corporate citizens is not only about how we spend money but how we manage our financial, social and environmental performance. We still value our ability to contribute to the communities around us, particularly, when it involves developing skills in young people,” said Baboolal.



Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Gary Hunte endorsed the bank’s support for Block Up and called for more corporate sponsorship for projects involving youth and sport.



He said such programmes benefit young people in the short and long term because of the life-skills they learn and because that is where many of tomorrow’s sporting stars get their start.



Of the 45 schools to participate this year, there are 31 male teams and 14 female teams. Block Up Inc, co-ordinators of the event, is a community-based organisation that operates from Curepe
