THE FLAG raising ceremony for the Trinidad and Tobago delegation at the Olympic Games in Beijing is scheduled for Wednesday at 2 pm (Beijing Time) in the Olympic Village.
Meanwhile, 10M air pistol shooter, Roger Daniel has checked in to the Olympic Village. Daniel will participate in the Opening Ceremony on August 8 .
Members of the track and field contingent will arrive in Beijing from Finland on Tuesday but will only spend only one night in the Olympic Village before heading out on Wednesday for a training camp in South Korea.
The TT track and field team will return to China on August 11.
With the highly anticipated opening ceremony just days away the excitement is building said TT Chef de Mission Michael Valentine.
“The Village is not fully occupied as yet but there is a buzz of anticipation. The Chinese are doing a good job in meeting expectations,” he said.
TT Chef de Mission Michael Valentine says all is well as the TTOC administration and medical staff arrived safely and are settling in at the Olympic Village.
Valentine speaking to www.ttoc.org pointed out that the arrangements in place at the airport and reception centre are well organised and efficient.
“The drive to the Olympic Village from the airport was quick as designated Olympic lanes were used to avoid the traffic.”
He said it was “smoggy” but described Beijing as quite beautiful. “The Olympic Village is extraordinary. The creativity and design exhibited are quite beautiful.
